Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a vital tool for bridging healthcare gaps, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Leveraging its potential will enhance healthcare access and delivery for those most in need. The AI4GH initiative is fostering healthcare innovation through this research implementation project. Now, in the second phase of the grant, the projects are encountering the everyday challenges of any technological solution: scalability and sustainability. This workshop will bring together leaders, researchers, and experts from Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss these challenges, identify practical solutions, and foster collaborations that promote the responsible scalability of AI in the healthcare sector.

Objectives

  1. Enhance the capabilities of CLIAS research teams to develop, implement, and expand responsible artificial intelligence solutions, with a focus on their impact on public health and equity in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  2. Promote collaboration and coordination among projects, strategic partners, and international experts, fostering interdisciplinary networks that support the regional agenda in AI and health.
  3. Facilitate the transition from research to practical action through tools, case studies, and workshops focused on business models, communicating results, and creating real-world impact.
  4. Collect stories from research teams that highlight their goals, challenges, solutions, and the outcomes achieved.
